Women Speak with Sari Bennett's STITCH POETRY

To celebrate International Women's Day, you are invited to come along to this special night of poetry and music. Book Here

Sari Bennett performs Stitch Poetry... an intimate evening of poetry in motion showcasing a selection of her new and well loved original works. Audiences will be swept into the arms of a colourful world where whimsical imagery is masterfully and unapologetically woven through hard hitting concepts that question human behaviours and challenge the status quo. Stitch Poetry is a celebration of what it means to be human and reflects the kind of magic that can only occur when things fall apart at the seams and are lovingly put back together again as something new.

Sari Bennett is a W.A based writer, performance poet and upcyler who lives on Molloy Island. She is a collector of moments and a seeker of the sacred hidden within in the mundane.

With a background in  physical theatre, Sari's embodied spoken word performances breathe life into her heartfelt poetry. Sari has performed at many festivals and events including the Nannup Music Festival, The Denmark Festival of Voice, The Nanga Music Festival, The Wild Village Womens Festival and More.

Karen Louise is a performance poet in Balingup, Western Australia. 2024 Australian Poetry Slam finalist.Karen will open with a 15 minute set of her latest work. 'Karen Louise (she/her) is a storyteller who lives on Wardandi land in Australia's South West. Her works are sepia-stained explorations of light, loss and discovery. Her performances find space, her poems sing and her songs taste like a 1920s speakeasy.'

DIRTY LAUNDRY by Yael Harris

DIRTY LAUNDRY was Yael’s first visual art project, a Poetry-Art Installation depicting the loss of self-identity to domesticity, motherhood, and wifehood. A fusion of romantic flashbacks and inner reflections cathartically ironed on pieces of laundry. The installation was launched at the Spoken Word night, Bunbury Fringe 2021, with part 2 presented at the 2021 Perth Poetry Festival.

Yael will re re-airing some pieces of her Dirty Laundry at Women Speak.
