David Scheel In Growing Old UN Gracefully
Growing Old Ungracefully is a hilarious take on the ageing process, a personal view as David’s own hair begins to change colour! Nothing is sacred: health issues, dodgy product labelling, scammers targeting older people, even the taboos of sex, religion and politics! This is high class, sophisticated and witty comedy from an older person with a very sharp, young mind. And among it all, David’s trademark brilliance on the piano intersperses all the fun with beautiful music. This is a show not to be missed.

David Scheel was born in South Australia and began his career as an actor in numerous Australian films and TV series before moving to the UK, where he soon found himself starring in the hugely successful satirical “News Revue” a kind of British stage version of “Saturday Night Live”. He was soon persuaded to try his hand at a solo show combining his skills as an actor, writer and mimic, with his training as a classical concert pianist. The result was Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only the Piano Player, a hit in London’s West End, at 3 consecutive Edinburgh festivals, leading to more than 1000 appearances on British radio and television.
Since returning to Australia David has also moved into the American market with equal success, his shows selling out from coast to coast.Growing Old Ungracefully is David’s latest offering, another superb blend of up-to-date comedy and memorable music.

SHINE PROJECT - Songwriter Tour 2025
Free community concert! Soundwaves Singing Studio in collaboration with BACH and the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup presents… Shine Project, a free community concert! Sit back and enjoy some of the South West’s finest young singer- songwriters in an evening of song - classics, pop, originals – This concert has it all!
Background to the Shine Project - In 2023, Busselton’s very own Phoebe Stewart finished runner-up in Australian Idol. The visits to Sydney in support of Phoebe allowed vocal coach, Sussane Siegrist, to re-connect with ARIA winning songwriter and producer Audius Mtawarira who has previously worked with renowned Australian artists like Delta Goodrem, Shannon Noll and Jess Mauboy.
Audius, with a good eye for talent, agreed to visit the South West writing, recording and collaborating with Phoebe. Many of Sussane’s other students quickly joined in the fun. The results were astonishing to the point where Audius returned 5 times in the short space of 16 months working with a select group of 15 students writing, producing and recording original songs.
Many of the songs were of such a high calibre that the idea of a tour was born - a chance to showcase the works providing valuable touring and performance experience as well as inspiring other students in the region. Our singer / songwriters, aged between 13-17 years, include:
PHOEBE STEWART, SCARLETT SCERRI, MAX ABEL, ANNIKA BARBOUR, ANOUK SIEGRIST, HANNAH KERR, CHARLOTTE JADE, CHARLI DAWE, AMARA TROVATO, OCEAN WRIGHT, LOLA MADER, TIARE DORIZZI and DUSTY RULE.
Australian Baroque Trio
Join members of Australian Baroque for a morning coffee concert with music played on instruments of the period. Featuring works by Vivaldi and Handel, the program celebrates the glory of Spring and depictions of the seasons in the visual arts.
PERFORMERS: Helen Kruger - violin, Noeleen Wright - cello, James Huntingford - piano.
Theatre 180 Lighthouse Girl
Based on the novels by award-winning author Dianne Wolfer
The Lighthouse Girl Saga is a sweeping story of ordinary people living in extraordinary times: a tale of courage, resilience, hope and love.
A bold adaptation by two of WA’s leading and award-winning playwrights, Jenny Davis OAM and Hellie Turner, this epic production blends four award-winning novels by West Australian writer, Dianne Wolfer: Lighthouse Girl, Light Horse Boy, In the Lamplight and The Last Light Horse into the most compelling theatrical event of our times.
Striking visuals, evocative sound and innovative staging transports the audience with the First AIF convoy as it embarks from King George sound and farewells Australia from the beacon of the lighthouse at Breaksea Island, to the hell of Gallipoli, the mud in the trenches at the Western Front, a nurse’s compassion in rural England and peaceful horizons in country Victoria. Journey with Fay, Charlie, Jim, Rose and Sandy, the only warhorse to return to Australia of the 136,000 sent to war, across seas and through the mire of war as their intersecting stories culminate in the forging of the ANZAC spirit and a love that conquers all.
THEATRE 180 Artistic Director says this is their most ambitious production to date.
“The surging narrative of Dianne Wolfer’s Lighthouse Series of books has found its way into the Australian psyche, from the desks of primary school students to teenagers and adults alike, the interconnected stories offer something for everyone.” Halusz says. “Embedded in the ANZAC legacy and juxtaposed against the brutality and futility of war is a deeply felt love story: love of country, love of family, love of horses and the Australian bush, and of course the young love that blossoms between two people who find themselves even amidst the chaos of a world at war.”
